About the OAO

The Oklahoma Academy of Ophthalmology is a non-profit organization founded in the 1970's to promote and advance the science and art of medical eye care.

Current membership is approximately 96 physicians.

The OAO provides continuing medical education programs to members.

The OAO provides representation to various legislative, regulatory, and associative bodies, including:

  • U.S. Congress
  • Oklahoma Legislature
  • U.S. Health Care Financing Administration
  • Managed care organizations
  • Oklahoma State Medical Association
  • American Academy of Ophthalmology
